Fascinated by the concept of transformation and identity, I observed through watercolour drawings the metamorphosis of the crawling caterpillar into a flying butterfly. I used this work as an inspiration for a fashion/style project by creating a caterpillar armpiece.
Favouring shape and transparency rather than colour for the armpiece, my intention was to build some sort of outgrowth, an insect extension to the human body.
Butterflies
Related to my work on the caterpillar, I wanted this time to make a tribute to colour and material. Starting from the observation of butterfly wing close ups, I created textile samples. Looking at these wings through a microscope, you can really mistake certain elements for feathers and beads, thus explaining my use of them in my work.
